What are the best local multiplayer games on PS4? The truth is, there are so many great options for some couch multiplayer goodness on PS4. While many titles offer great online experiences, nothing quite beats local multiplayer together with friends and family in the same room. Finding the right game can quickly turn four best mates into mortal enemies, or transform the group into a hysterical mess of laughter, screams, and joy.
Luckily, the PS4 has a plethora of such titles to play. From stone-cold classics like Rayman Legends and Shovel Knight to utterly unique hidden gems such as Cuphead, there's a wide range of titles to play with others that'll get everyone leaping out of their seats with excitement.
As with all these lists, though, it's not up to us. All the games featured here are chosen and put in order by you lot. So, then, below is a list of the best local multiplayer games on PS4, ranked and rated by the Push Square community.
25. Borderlands: The Handsome Collection (PS4)

If you're after some co-op FPS action, the Borderlands games offer some top notch shooting and looting. Borderlands: The Handsome Collection is a great deal, giving you access to Borderlands 2 and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, along with all the accompanying DLC. With a ludicrous number of possible weapons, some great sci-fi environments to explore, and some daft storytelling to pull you along, this series is a highly entertaining way to get your co-op FPS kicks.
24. Overcooked (PS4)

Despite later versions improving upon the formula, the original Overcooked is still a wonderful multiplayer game. It kicked off a trend of simple, accessible co-op games, and it's not hard to understand why. This cooking game may look friendly and straightforward, but if you and your friends aren't careful, chaos can quickly take over the kitchen. Communication is key in this fantastic co-op game, and if you want a bit of spice, there are some competitive multiplayer levels too.
23. A Way Out (PS4)

A Way Out can only be played in two-player co-op, and because it's designed around that restraint, it's an excellent multiplayer adventure. Playing as a pair of convicts, the game takes you and a buddy on a wild ride as they escape from prison and look to get revenge for those that did them dirty. With an interesting story and lots of co-op focused gameplay, this is a great game to play with a pal.
22. Tekken 7 (PS4)
Though showing its age a little these days, Tekken 7 remains a great fighting game. Its super-crunchy combat is arguably better than ever here, with its overhauled rage system giving even novice players a fighting chance. There's an OTT story to follow and a solid suite of modes to enjoy, including local and online multiplayer of course. An all-round excellent fighter.
21. Overcooked 2 (PS4)

The first game laid down rock solid foundations, and Overcooked 2 builds upon them to offer one of the best multiplayer experiences on PS4. It introduces the ability to throw and catch items, online play, and of course, plenty more chaotic levels to enjoy. The whole thing is a recipe for madness as you and your friends aim to coordinate in tightly designed kitchens to get out the right orders. A highly entertaining co-op game for all ages.

Divinity original sin
My shout for underrated local co-op would be Moving Out. You empty houses into a van. And it's great, kinda weird, and simple enough for my none-gamer gf to pick up and play.
Everybody’s Golf. I still have a standing biweekly date to play with a few pals. Never gets old.
Surprised not to see Overcooked 1 or 2 and Moving out on here. Also Hotwheels Unleashed is great to play with the kids on the couch.
F1 games are also really good in split screen. I’ve had many hours having quite intense battles for the lead
