Super excited for PSVR2. Just preordered the Horizon Bundle yesterday!
And out of excitement, i fired up the PSVR1....and I've got to be honest, it's just not as incredible, nor does it have the same wow-factor as it even did a 2-3 years ago. I was only messing around with Astro Bot Rescue Mission, Resident Evil 7 & A Fisherman's Tale.
One of the problems lies in the frame rate. I've been so used to gaming at 120fps these days, that going back to the PSVR1's 60fps can be pretty jarring and rough...Although, 'looking' around in VR with your head is actually 120, yet the games themselves run at 60fps. And that 60 makes PSVR1 games move unnaturally and look somewhat artificial instead of that amazing 'looking through a window' effect that 120fps on PS5 & XSX gives you.
That, and the horribly low pixelated 960x1080p per eye can be hard to stomach, and the OLED display itself does NOT offer true blacks....they're like a dark-ish shade of grey, plus this oled display in particular can't get very bright and the colors will not compare to a QD-OLED either.
Question is, will the PSVR2's 2000x2040 be that big of an upgrade over 960x1080? How exactly has the new OLED display itself improved? Are we getting true blacks this time around? Higher brightness when HDR isn't being implemented? If anything, VR2 games will now run at 90-120fps instead of 60 which is great, which automatically cans 60.
Oh and....
Astro Bot Rescue Mission PSVR2 port, pretty please with the following >
-120fps (this should also get rid of character animation judder compared to 60fps)
-2000x2040 per eye
-110d FOV
-Hopefully a brighter image, with better colors and true OLED blacks
-Eye tracking with Foveated Rendering
-PSVR2 Controller suppport
Slightly on topic but is anyone planning to get the Collective Minds third party cradle and charger for vr2? It's only $30 and has a stand for the vr helmet too vs 50 and no stand for the official charger. I haven't ordered a charger but keeping the controllers in place and charging separately could be annoying.
@NEStalgia Depends on how much use it will get. If it's not a weekly thing, I'd rather store it in a box underneath the TV to prevent it from catching too much dust.
Getting the VR2 Sense Controller charging station, but that's about it. Guess I'll just let the VR2's cable hang off the back end of my table or wherever i put it so it's hidden. Speaking of the Wire. Sigh* It's going to make 'stand up' VR feel absolutely sloppy, just like it did for Vacation Simulator, A Fisherman's Tale etc. Sit down VR should be fine however, for games like RE8: Village, Moss 2 etc.
I was likely still going to pass, but this news makes it even easier. The Sense controllers will not be sold separately, at least for now. I'm not paying $550 for something with the possibility that I won't be able to use it at all if one of the controllers breaks. I have a hard time believing this is a stock issue or anything like that.
@KilloWertz If they break, then there's probably a way for Sony to replace them. It probably comes with a two-year warranty anyway, so selling separate controllers in its first two years is kinda pointless anyway.
